A Dog Eat Dog World

I can't quite remember if this is true of the states, but I can't tell you how many signs I have seen in front of mexican meat-serving restaurants that strike me as completely strange and twisted. It never fails that if they are serving pig tacos there is a painted porker on the side of the building clad in a white butcher apron , a chef's hat, and swinging what to me looks like an ax covered in red pigs blood. If there is chicken, you should never be surpised to see a tall chicken in the same mighty uniform holding a dead baby chicken by the legs, with the same crazy bucher knife in his other hand. What kills me is that the murdering animal is always smilling, sometimes winking, even going as far as to give a thumbs up (sidenote: how is this even possible, chickens and pigs have no thumbs.)

Until today I thought that this was backwards and impossible. But then today Edwin and I sat down to eat a breakfast of eggs and beans and, looking out the garden window I said 'hey! there's a chicken in your garden!!! since when does your family have a chicken?', to which his only response, without explanation, was 'since yesterday'.

At the end of breakfast edwin put out a little scrap of eggs for the dogs to eat, but instead of the little chihuahua savoring it, that crazy speckled hen sprinted up behind her and before you could say 'cannibal' he gobbled up his own kin!!! The chicken, without a thought the moral correctness of the situtation, swallowed whole a future baby of his species.

Chickens are stupid and nasty, and that's a fact. So far I have no experience with pigs, anyone else?

Chicken eggs that we eat are not fertilized and so the consumption of them by a chicken can't really be considered cannibalism. It's more like if you ate one out of the thousand of your own eggs currently residing in your ovaries (thanks carrie!) but much much more delicious than that. Was that gross? That was gross. but true.

its more like if i fried up one of my own eggs with onion and ate it. and yes, that is gross.

pigs are smart & awesome. on average, they have the intelligence of a 3-year-old human. and they're good cuddlers.
